      <image:caption>Antes de saber que existía la moda, ella ya escuchaba el sonido rítmico de una Singer de pedal: tac, tac, tac. Mientras el pedal subía y bajaba, observaba a su madre transformar telas en vestidos. Ese fue su primer recuerdo del acto de crear. En ese pequeño espacio doméstico entendió algo que marcaría su vida: las manos pueden crear algo que luego abrazará el cuerpo de otra persona. También veía a su madre tejer con otras mujeres del barrio. Compartían saberes, aprendían juntas y buscaban formas de sostener sus hogares a través del oficio. Sin saberlo, esa escena cotidiana sembró la base de lo que años más tarde sería su trabajo con mujeres artesanas de diferentes pueblos del Perú. Hoy, cada vez que viaja a una comunidad amazónica y observa a mujeres hilar, bordar o teñir fibras naturales, reconoce esa misma energía creativa.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Cuando Anabel decidió estudiar diseño de moda, descubrió rápidamente que su camino dentro de esta disciplina sería diferente. Con el tiempo entendió algo que transformó profundamente su mirada: ella no llegó a la moda por la moda. Llegó a la moda por la vida. Durante su formación académica también aprendió a cuestionar muchas prácticas de la industria. Comprendió que la palabra “inspiración” muchas veces ha sido utilizada para tomar elementos culturales sin pedir permiso o sin reconocer a quienes originaron esos saberes. Por eso decidió cambiar su metodología. Dejó de inspirarse y comenzó a conversar. Sentarse, escuchar, aprender y quedarse el tiempo suficiente para comprender el significado profundo de los textiles, las materialidades y las vestimentas tradicionales. Porque para muchas comunidades, la indumentaria no es solo estética. Es pensamiento, cosmovisión, identidad y memoria.</image:caption>

Por eso su práctica se basa en la co-creación y la reciprocidad. En lugar de imponer una visión externa, busca construir procesos colectivos donde diseñadores y artesanos puedan trabajar en diálogo y equilibrio. Desde su proyecto Amaru, ha liderado procesos de desarrollo de colecciones, creación de marcas comunitarias y exposiciones internacionales en ciudades como París, Londres, México, Burdeos y Nueva Guinea. También ha impulsado iniciativas como: Cartografía para una moda sostenible en el Perú Guía para una moda ética y sostenible Proyectos que buscan generar herramientas concretas para transformar la relación entre diseñadores y comunidades artesanas.</image:caption>
